Redesigned StarSteer. The interface has been rebuilt around the window you are working in.
- A bottom toolbar in every window - holding that window's own scene tools, editing tools and mode switches.
- Scale bars redrawn - the grey axis strips are gone and the values now float over the scene.
- Quick Look table - replaces the status bar - readouts now appear in the view itself, and in Geosteering they became part of the table widget.
Well Attributes, end to end. The Well Attributes introduced in 2026.1 now reach every part of StarSteer.
- Pie charts - show attribute values on wells in Map View.
- Filters - narrow your trees by attribute value, down to the wells you need.
- Color by - paints the wells in Map View by any attribute value.
- Identifier attributes - are a new type whose values must be unique across the project.
- Well labels - in the Object Tree can now come from any attribute value.
- Python, calculated log formulas and geosteering reports - now work with well attributes.
Map View
- Show and edit Images and Comments in Map View.
- Grids isolines adapt to the zoom: the right number of lines and labels at every scale, smoothed so they no longer look angular.
- Use the lasso to edit Sticks in bulk - press the left mouse button and drag, the separate lasso tool is gone.
- Display Trajectory corridors in Map View.
- Map underlay - better-looking tiles, and a Blank Layer that shows your Solo Data Factory data without a Google basemap behind it.
- Push a saved Map View to StarLite.
3D View is rebuilt on a new rendering engine.
- Full multi-window support.
- Show object labels and isolines on grids.
- More object types will follow in the next releases.
Correlation Panel
- Move tracks - Drag tracks into a new order in the Correlation Panel and the Geosteering window. Hold Shift while dragging or resizing to apply the change to every displayed well at once, or use the "to all wells" icon to add, remove or reconfigure tracks across all wells in one click.
- Consistent top names - right-click to pick a top name already in the project.
- Undo/Redo - now covers Well Correlation edits.
- Long names in headers - hover a truncated well or object name to see it in full.
- Correlation line color - tell your lines apart in Map View.
- Ghost - now has a shortcut - H.
Geosteering
- AI Geosteering is not Automated Geosteering with a new engine - it is a new product built on computer vision technology. Talk to your Account Executive to get on it.
- Polygons as stripes - an area-only polygon becomes a colored band on the Cross Section, bounded where the trajectory crosses in and out.
- Vertical tracks per interpretation - your logs stay where you put them.
- Several views per well in StarLite - name the tab you are pushing into and each view keeps its place.
- Right-click in the view - the context menu you know from the tree, now in Geosteering and Slice View too.
Polygon Attributes. Every polyline carries your own attributes.
- Show their values in Map View and Slice View, and drive Mapping Mode with the numeric ones.
- Shapefile import rebuilt - attributes come in with the polygons, and lat/long files are reprojected into the project's coordinate system.
Object formats
- Global Object Styles - give the project a single library of formats you can look through and tune, and every new object is created from it.
- Custom Formats keep spreading - Map View is now free to style its objects independently of every other window and every other user.
- Copy/Paste Style works for every object type and can be pasted onto a selection of objects, a folder, a Well List or a Log Family in one action.
Object and Group Trees
- Convert Wells to Typewells and back by dragging between categories.
- Move objects between wells and tops between topsets by drag or copy.
- Mass actions in the trees - select as many objects as you like and star, link, export or copy them in one go.
- Folders now take New and Import directly, turn into Well Lists, and can be copied whole.
- The hide empty folders filter - clears folders with nothing in them out of the tree.
- Sticky parents - scrolling into a deep branch keeps its well, folder and category pinned at the top of the tree.
- The Object Tree no longer fills up with branches you did not open yourself.
Solo
- Get Window now spans the whole project family - global and virtual projects in one list.
- Shared inversion parameters - Multi-Layer Inversion settings and status live on Solo, so everyone sees the same inversions, knows which are still running, and can pick one up when it is free.
- Lazy Image Logs loading for Solo projects reduces startup time and memory usage by downloading Image Logs on demand, only when they are displayed in user views.
- Project changes arrive over a persistent WebSocket connection instead of once-a-second polling, and streaming logs apply only the new points instead of re-downloading the whole curve.
Lock and Private. Protect your work in a shared project.
- Lockable objects now include Logs, Calc Logs, Grids, Polygons, Sticks and Folders, alongside Interpretations, Topsets and trajectories.
- Temporarily Unlock lets you edit a locked object for a set period without unlocking it for anyone else.
- Private adds Wells, Grids, Polygons and Sticks to Interpretations.
- Well Lists carry Lock and Private through to their wells - one click for the whole list.
- New Grids, Polygons, Sticks, Wells and Interpretations you create are Private by default until you choose Set Public.
New Features & Improvements
- Open a Petra, GeoGraphix, Kingdom or Petrel project in the Reference Project, see everything inside it in seconds, and bring over just what you need.
- TVD and TVDSS are editable in the Topset Spreadsheet, by typing, pasting or importing.
- Comments support extended text formatting.
- Exclude wells in Mapping Mode - set a well list to Included or Excluded. Excluding a well list will remove wells from being included in mapping data.
- Undo/Redo now covers completion stage edits in Map View and Geosteering.
- Distance to plan in the Log Calculator - two new Trajectory functions build a log of how far the actual wellbore runs above, below, left or right of the plan at every MD.
- High-DPI displays - everything renders at the right size on any display scale.
- Intersections checkbox in Slice View hides well/slice-line intersection markers.
Performance
- Project opening - big projects with many wells, attributes or calculated logs now open several times faster.
- Map View and Slice View draw far more efficiently - big scenes pan smoothly instead of crawling.
- Lower memory use on large projects.
- Group Tree - mass selection no longer freezes on big projects.
- Resistivity - inversions run up to twice as fast, with identical results.
- Faulted grids build far faster.
StarSteer 27. Your well. Under control.
