TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ROGII’S GEOSTEERING WORLD CUP (“GWC”)
The Geosteering World Cup is an event organized by ROGII Inc. (ROGII), 11750 Katy Freeway Suite 780 Houston, TX 77079.
These Terms and Conditions govern participation in the GWC. BY entering the GWC, all applicants and participants accept and agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
1. Participation & Event Structure
The GWC is an online tournament where Competitors (all applications and participants in the GWC hereafter “Competitors”) will compete against each other using StarSteer Geosteering Software (“StarSteer”) & Solo Cloud (“Solo”) in a skill-based competition to steer a well in the most accurate and efficient manner.
1.1. Members of the public may participate in the GWC in the following ways (in each case ROGII reserves the right to alter the format and requirements for participation in GWC):
1.1.1. Online Tournament
1.1.1.1. By means of a GWC online tournament hosted on Solo as described more fully at the ROGII website at the news section. Competitors can register online via Typeform at https://form.typeform.com/to/i2kgO1FT
1.1.1.1.1. Deletion or modification of data is grounds for immediate disqualification.
1.1.1.2. The GWC will be held in Central Daylight Time Zone. The exact times will be communicated by way of the official registration site on Typeform (https://form.typeform.com/to/i2kgO1FT) and the ROGII website, www.rogii.com/news , or via ROGII’s LinkedIn, https://www.linkedin.com/company/rogii
1.1.2. Competition Outline
1.1.2.1. The GWC competition will take place worldwide on September 17th, 2024, at 10:30 AM (CDT).
1.1.2.2. The top ten overall winners will be announced the day of the competition.
1.1.2.3. Remaining scores will be sent prior to September 20, 2024, via email to all remaining competitors.
1.1.2.4. On September 18th winners will be contacted via email & announced on LinkedIn, https://www.linkedin.com/company/rogii, & the ROGII website, www.rogii.com/news.
1.1.3. Regional Winners
1.1.3.1. The GWC competition is broken down into 4 Regions: North America, South America, Europe/Asia, Africa, Oceania, Middle East.
1.1.3.1.1. Europe region includes Eurasia.
1.1.3.2. Competitors that score top place in their participating region will be crowned “Regional Geosteering Champion”.
1.1.3.3. Competitors that are crowned “Regional Geosteering Champion” will be notified of this on September 17th, 2024, via email.
1.1.4. Grand Finale
1.1.4.1. The “ROGII Geosteering World Cup Champion 2024” will be determined by selecting the competitor with the overall highest score.
1.1.4.2. Event details will also be communicated by way of the official ROGII social media pages and on the ROGII website, www.rogii.com/news.
1.1.4.3. ROGII reserves the right to provide a substitute in the event that a competitor is unable to complete the competition.
1.1.5. Prizes
1.1.5.1. Each Regional Winner will receive a prize of a GoPro HERO 11 Bundle, & certificate.
1.1.5.1.1. In the event that a Regional Winner lives in a country that has strict shipping regulations, the prize, DJI Mini Drone, will be replaced with a ROGII U course certificate.
1.1.5.2. The overall winner of the GWC shall be awarded the prize, DJI Mini Drone, and a trophy.
1.1.5.3. All prizes are non-transferable or exchangeable and no cash alternatives will be offered. ROGII reserves the right to withdraw any prizes at any time at its sole discretion.
1.1.6. General Provisions
1.1.6.1. ROGII will contact all Competitors via email to inform them of their final scores.
2. Game Rules
2.1. All rules are subject to change, and changes may be posted without notice. The format of the GWC may also be changed without notice. It is each Competitor’s responsibility to know and understand the rules as they exist the day of the tournament.
2.1.1. Competitors will be notified of official rules during a GWC orientation hosted via Microsoft Teams. Information on this orientation will come from the worldcup@rogii.com email address.
2.1.2. Qualifier Tournament and GWC Grand Finale Rules
2.1.2.1. Technical Settings
2.1.2.1.1. Competitors that do not have a StarSteer license installed on their computer will be given access to a temporary license.
2.1.2.2. General Rules
2.1.2.2.1. Competitors may only register once.
2.1.2.2.2. Competitors found to have entered the GWC more than once will be disqualified.
2.1.2.2.3. All geosteering is to be done on StarSteer Geosteering Software, version 2023.1 is recommended.
2.1.2.2.4. If a Competitor does not have StarSteer or Solo installed, ROGII will provide the Competitor with remote access to StarSteer & Solo.
2.1.2.2.5. Deletion of data is grounds for immediate disqualification.
2.1.2.2.6. Recording of any images of the GWC tournament is prohibited, unless a permission had been granted by ROGII.
2.1.2.2.7. Prior to the start of the event the ROGII Technical Support team will go over the rules and guidelines to ensure all Competitors are aware of the rules before the start of the competition. This GWC overview event will be held in Microsoft Teams, Competitors will receive a link to this event after registering for the competition.
2.1.2.2.8. Competitors should understand how to use StarSteer before the competition & should have previous knowledge of log correlations, updating geosteering models, & know how to work with Target line features. Competitors can ask for software assistance prior to event by contacting the ROGII Technical Support team to seek guidance on guidelines & some basic training. ROGII is not responsible for teaching Competitors how to use StarSteer Geosteering Software or any of its features the day of the event.
2.1.2.2.9. Competitors are responsible for having a stable and reasonably fast internet connection to be able to participate in this event. ROGII is not responsible for any interruption caused due to internet connection issues.
2.1.2.3. Interruptions
2.1.2.3.1. In the event a Competitor runs into technical issues he/she should contact the ROGII technical Support team administrating the event to seek further assistance.
2.1.2.4. Scoring
2.1.2.4.1. Competitors will be scored according to the combination of 2 factors: highest percentage drilled in the Target Zone and average ROP. All Competitors will be provided with their final results after the event has concluded.
2.1.2.5. Judges
2.1.2.5.1. Judges will be monitoring the competition & recording scores as appropriate.
2.1.2.5.2. The decisions of Judges are final and binding.
2.1.2.5.3. The judges have been selected based on their geosteering level of expertise. They are: Pavel Dorofeev: North America, Rafael Aguilar: South America, Romulo Cuevas: Europe, Oceania, Middle East, & Asia.
2.1.2.5.3.1. ROGII reserves the right to assign scoring to judges outside of their designated Region.
3. Commercial Rights
3.1. All commercial rights (including and not limited to any and all marketing and media rights) relating to GWC tournament belong to ROGII.
3.2. Competitors shall not associate themselves with GWC and/or ROGII in any commercial manner, nor use any intellectual property rights of ROGII (including without limitation the ROGII GWC trophy), nor shall they permit any third parties to do so, without the proper prior written consent of ROGII.
3.3. Competitors shall not carry out or facilitate any promotional or marketing activities whatsoever with respect to the GWC.
3.3.1. In the event a competitor’s place of employment wants to publish information in relation to their employee’s place in the competition they can do so with prior approval from ROGII.
3.4. The recording, dissemination or any other exploitation of images of the GWC is strictly prohibited.
4. Legal Provisions
4.1. Violation of any part of these Terms and Conditions will, at ROGII’s election, result in (a) sanction(s) and/or loss of winner status. All Competitors must follow ROGII’s directions. All decisions and rulings of ROGII are final and binding. ROGII reserves the right to remove any Competitor during the competition at any level, any time for any reason.
4.2. By entering the GWC, each Competitor:
4.2.1. assumes sole liability for injuries, including personal injuries and/or damage caused by participating in the GWC tournament or the acceptance, shipping and handling, loss or use of any award; and
4.2.2. consents to the use by ROGII of his or her name, likeness and/or still or moving image on ROGII’s website and in any and all publicity and advertising for ROGII, the GWC or other promotions by ROGII without any further attribution, additional notification or compensation, except where prohibited by law.
4.3. Data
4.3.1. In order to take part in the GWC, the Competitor needs to provide ROGII with personal data (name, email address, nationality, company, work title)
4.3.2. Competitors acknowledge and agree that the personal data provided to ROGII pursuant to these Terms and Conditions will be used, processed and stored for purposes relating to the proper organization of the GWC.
4.4. Employees of ROGII and immediate family are not eligible to participate in the GWC.
4.5. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, USA (without regard to any conflict of laws principles). All actions arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be brought in the Harris County District Court, Houston, TX USA, which shall be the exclusive forum therefore. The parties hereto hereby irrevocably submit to the in-person a jurisdiction and process of the Harris County District Court, Houston, TX United States of America, and agree that service by certified mail to their addresses shall constitute sufficient service of process.
